Johnny Handsome movie scene Picture source: (left) screen capture
Johnny Handsome

One of my favourite Mickey films. The movie doesn't look like big budget stuff. No large, expensive sets, glamorous characters, or non-stop action. Juz a couple of sleazy characters on the mean streets. Maybe it's the simplicity of the whole thing together with the right mood, the right pace, the right cast, and the right music (by Ry Cooder) to go along with it. Everything juz seems to click into place. Mickey, needless to say, did a great job with John Sedley.

I'll give it five Jack O' lanterns

The best and the most memorable scene for me was the part when John's surgery was over and he was looking in the mirror at his new face for the first time... It was that one scene that won me over instantly. Here's a series of four pics from that scene [click here to view]. I snapped them from the tv screen while the video was playing.

Point number two, thanks to a genetic abnormality, probably attributable to his mother's addiction, he was borned with physical defects that ninety-nine percent of all humanity considers totally disgusting. Now he has finally given himself a chance and a new life, and what does he get for that? You. Just crawling all over him." -- Dr. Steven Fisher to A.Z. Drones
